The St. Andrew Parish Centenary Award is a prestigious one time recognition of excellence, achievement and contributions at a local Parish level to the spiritual and community life of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Canada. The Award recognizes individuals and institutions that have made their mark in such areas as following:
- Spiritual leadership
- Development of community through individual contributions at a local level that have provided an exemplary inspiration to the local Parish and community
- Fostering of a local visionary legacy
- Creation of legal and organizational foundation
- Worship life of Church through music, architecture, iconographic beautification
The Award will recognize both current and posthumous contributions. There is no limit on the number of awards that can be made at the Parish level. However, contributions either current or posthumous must have been of a truly exemplary nature.
Parish (Mission District) level examples of leadership contributions could include significant service to community projects or parish expansion. Other forms of contribution could include support to the worship life of community through cantoring, choir direction and participation, service in brotherhood and sisterhoods, Church hospodarstvo and cemetery upkeep and beautification.
Nominations can come from Parish Executives or from individuals (minimum of two nominators is required one of whom should be a member of the UOCC). Selections for the St. Andrew Parish Centenary Award will be made by the Parish Executive with the Blessing of the Eparchial Bishop.
